Dear Brothers and Sisters!
I want to reach out today to give thanks to God for each of you. I was reminded recently how so many of us are dramatically growing in our faith and in prayer. The 5 Fav stories I have recently heard really are a blessing! The preparation for the Prayer Vigil on Good Friday, March 30, is building my enthusiasm for God’s work at FCC. Please continue to pray with confidence because our Lord loves to answer the prayers of His children!
Yesterday, we reflected briefly on the need for the gospel to be communicated by our lives and our words! I wanted to share an article from Time magazine this past autumn that illustrates our need to be fragrant with Christ’s love!
'Tis the season for pumpkin spice—but one Baltimore school has probably had quite enough of it for the year.
Recently, the third floor of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School started to smell a little funky. According to a report in , students and teachers noticed "the stench seemed to be getting stronger…several people reported difficulty breathing."
The school's president ordered that the school be evacuated. The fire department soon arrived, followed by a Hazmat team. While no hazardous materials were discovered inside the building, the culprit was found: "a pumpkin spice-scented plugin air freshener in a third-floor classroom."
A total of five people were taken to the hospital.
The chief of Baltimore's fire department "told reporters that despite the innocent cause of the smell, he was glad the school took action."
He explained that "[i]t's always best to take precaution, call 911, let us—we are the experts—come in and make sure that everything is safe, so we have no problem with them making this call."
We are the experts to call to spread the fragrance of Christ! May we smell good this Spring season!
NIV 2 Corinthians 2:14-17
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? 17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.
Your servant for Jesus’ sake,
