Dear Beloved ones – loved by God and by your Pastor,

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, who loves us with an everlasting love that never fails. This is the reminder of Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:8. We have included love as the prime value in our core values at FCC. Love for God and for all others! This love shines through us as we walk by faith in our Beloved One! We are accepted in Him and taught to love as He does.

It seems to me that our Enemy, Satan, schemes in many ways to destroy our love for God and others! He is active, and we must keep alert! My prayer for all of us today is that we will not succumb to the lies of the Devil! The ONECRY calendar says it this way:

“Pray that Christians in your community will be alert to the schemes of Satan and resist his temptations as he disguises himself as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14)”

NIV 2 Corinthians 11:9-14
And when I was with you and needed something, I was not a burden to anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied what I needed. I have kept myself from being a burden to you in any way, and will continue to do so. 10 As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, nobody in the regions of Achaia will stop this boasting of mine. Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do! 12 And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. 13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

This morning I was reading the wise words of a missionary to India, Amy Carmichael. Here are just a few of her descriptions of love that is lacking the agape standard of God’s everlasting love as defined in 1 Corinthians 13.

“If I can enjoy a joke at the expense of another; if I can in any way slight another in conversation, or even in thought, then I know nothing of Calvary love.

If I do not feel far more for the grieved Savior than for my worried self when troublesome things occur, then I know nothing of Calvary love.

If I can rebuke without a pang, then I know nothing of Calvary love.

If my attitude be one of fear, not faith, about one who has disappointed me; if I say, “Just what I expected” if a fall occurs, then I know nothing of Calvary love.

If I hold on to choices of any kind, just because they are my choice, then I know nothing of Calvary love.”

I fell on face before the Savior as I read these vain descriptions of deficient love. Let us LOVE today, this week and always with the singular desire to love as Jesus loves us! Let us sincerely seek to love with His love that never fails. Let us pray to the Lord that our fellow Christians around the world will know and express His love to others. The world will know we are Christians, Christ followers, by our love!

Your servant,
Pastor Rick
