Dear Friends,

Help us celebrate today!

In January 1983, I asked Betsy Emmaline Bormann to marry me.  On that night, I gave her a cross-stitched frame containing Joshua 24:15

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

Joshua had served the Lord with Moses for many years.  He and Caleb were the only spies to recommend that the nation follow the Lord into victory as they entered the Promised Land.  Over forty years had passed and now Joshua would lead them into the land of milk and honey. Imagine his excitement and joy to lead them!  Over the course of his life, he had served the Lord.  Joshua (the Lord Saves) had led not only the nation but his family as well. It was his expressed goal to serve the Lord and his family forever!

On May 28, 1983, Betsy and I became one at the Calvary Baptist Church in Pitman, New Jersey. Pastor Headley and Pastor Eckert led us as we made a vow before God and several hundred guests. The covenant we entered into that day is a lifelong one.  Solely by the grace of God, we intend to fulfill that vow until death us do part!  We pledged each other our troth! We meant it then and we renew it each day.

We have been privileged to serve our Lord in three churches (Barrington, NH 1883-1992; Linwood, NJ 1992-2010 and Centennial, CO 2010 until the present).  God in his mercy has entrusted us with the care of four children: Tim, Phil, Katie and Ben.  As of today, we have eight grandchildren and our ninth is due to arrive in June.  The lineup looks like this: Hayleigh, Lucas, Mason, Micah (Kate and Chris); Preston, Zachary (Tim and Kristin) and Easton, Taylor, ?? (Phil and Donna).

We continue each day to celebrate His love for us and our love for each other!  Every blessing and every trial we have faced with the assurance of God’s love, mercy, grace, presence and power!  All glory to the One who called us to be Husband and Wife.

NIV Proverbs 18:22
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.

NIV Proverbs 19:14
Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

NIV Proverbs 12:4
A wife of noble character is her husband's crown

God’s plan is to bless us!  We eagerly submit to His plan for us!  Please join us as we celebrate today and for all our days!  I love you Em!  You are my crown, my joy, my love forever and ever!  My gift from my Heavenly Father who I treasure and cherish!

Your servant for Jesus’ sake,
Pastor Rick
