Dear Brothers and Sisters of FCC,

I am so very thankful for the joy Jesus’ gives us every day.  His mercies new every morning refresh us!  His grace is forever sufficient for us!  His love is everlasting!   We are truly blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus! (Ephesians 1:3)

I was recently reading through the longest chapter in the Bible, Psalm 119.  Every verse gives us some insight into the value of the Word of God.  As I read this time, I was struck by the “book ends” in the chapter.

NIV Psalm 119:1 Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the LORD.

This bold announcement of blessing is intended to inspire us to walk according to the Torah of the Lord.  As this acrostic Psalm unfolds more evidence piles up to keep us inspired.  The New Living Translation paraphrases the verse this way:

NLT Psalm 119:1 Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the LORD.

What struck me was the last verse in Psalm 119.

NIV Psalm 119:176 I have strayed like a lost sheep.
Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.

The song writer confesses that he does experience seasons of wandering away from the Lord.  His request is concise: Seek and rescue Me, for I am your servant.  Even as “servants of the Lord” from time to time we need to be rescued because we chose to wander away!  His last comment is a great comfort:  I have not forgotten your commands.  We say, “Yes and Amen!”   We still value the Word of God even in our wanderings!

I have discovered that my walk with Jesus is healthier when I draw near to fellow faith walkers in a small group. Jesus trained his key leaders, the Apostles, in a small group.  As we embark on this Autumn season, I want to invite you to consider joining a LIFE group at FCC.

LIFE is the acrostic of our core values as a church. We desire to promote Love for God and others, Instruction from the inerrant Word of God, Fellowship between all who truly believe on Christ and Evangelism to reach out to our community with the good news!

Prayerfully consider joining one this month.  Most of our groups are just getting started with new materials.  The best way to learn about a group is to call the leader.    You will find the list of current LIFE groups in the attachment below.

This Sunday we will investigate the great doctrine of reconciliation.  As you prepare your heart for worship, I encourage you to read 2 Corinthians 5 and Romans 5.  I am eager to worship with you this week. A recent guest at FCC remarked that she was greatly encouraged in worship by our singing!  So, come ready to sing unto the Lord together!

Your servant for Jesus’ sake,
Pastor Rick
