Dear Friends,
Today we conclude our look at Psalm 23:3. Once again, I rely on the wisdom in Philip Keller’s book: “A Shepherd Looks at the Twenty-third Psalm.”
7) “Instead of choosing my own way, I am willing to choose to follow in Christ’s way: simply to do what He asks me to do.”
I love the word “simply” in this attitude. Often, I am overcome by complexities and too many choices. If I simply follow Jesus, I am blessed and content. My head can lay on my pillow each night with confidence that I sought to follow Jesus. I am not so proud to assert that I always get it right, but in my heart, I desire to do only His will.
Ask the Lord today to direct your steps. Trust Him to give you insights into what He is leading you to do. Watch and pray. Then watch and pray again. And again. And again…
I conclude with the words of one of my favorite hymns written by Dorthy Thrupp:
Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use Thy folds prepare.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.We are Thine, Thou dost befriend us, be the Guardian of our way;
Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us, seek us when we go astray.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Hear, O hear us when we pray.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Hear, O hear us when we pray.
