COMMISSION
Benediction

WHY DO WE TAKE COMMUNION?

Communion, “The Lord’s Supper,” is a tradition given to the church by Jesus Christ which calls us to remember his death on the cross until he returns again. It is a unique and beautiful way of preaching the gospel through symbols - the broken bread symbolizes his body, the cup symbolizes his shed blood - just as Jesus described it at the Last Supper. Reserved for believers and intended to be done regularly until Christ returns, we take Communion on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions. In doing so, we preach the gospel to ourselves and to one another. All confessing believers in Jesus are invited to participate in the Lord’s Table with us, but God’s Word cautions us against taking Communion lightly. We are told to examine ourselves before we eat the bread and drink the cup - then we can celebrate our salvation in Christ with joy!

Passages to read:
Matthew 26:26-29, Luke 22:16-20,
1 Corinthians 11:17-34

MISSIONS MOMENT | Brandon & Angie Johnson

Please join us in praying for our FCC missionaries. These next two weeks we want to lift up Angie & Brandon Johnson with Youth for Christ in the Mediterranean:

  • Pray for Brandon’s upcoming trip to Geneva and for creating an internship for YFI young leaders in partnership with the UN Human Rights Council.
  • Pray for everything goes smoothly for their move back to the US and the kids adjust well.
  • Praise that Angie’s last cancer scan came back clean! Pray for her recovery from reconstructive surgery and for Brandon as he cares for her.
  • Pray for Brandon’s colleague taking his place on a trip to the UN.

Thank you for interceding on behalf of our missionaries!

Prayer Room | Sundays, 9a-10:15a | Prayer Room

The Lord has set in motion a desire to pray on Sunday mornings during first service. The Prayer Room door is open for anyone to engage in prayer and pursue the presence of God with others.

Request: Service Opportunities for Boys

FCC Family - do you have some service projects around your home that boys (7-13) could help with? Or maybe you have a neighbor or know a widow who could use some help? Our Fathers in the Field ministry is looking for opportunities for Mentor Fathers and their Field Buddies to serve widows and the church community. If you have a project, please contact Maggie Fuller (fathersinthefield@fcchurch.org).

Glenn Buchholz Memorial | Thu., Jul. 9, 3p | Ft. Logan, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO

A celebration of the life of Glenn Buchholz. All are invited to join the family for this celebration at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Be at Staging RED 15 minutes before 3pm. Live Stream will be on: youtube.com/@FeldmanMortuary/streams.

Operation Christmas Child | July & August Collection

It's School Supplies in July and August! Sales will pop up for school necessities: pencils, pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, crayons, coloring markers, paper, scissors, and more. These are necessary items for a child to attend school in some areas. Always remember: the gospel goes forth with each and every box we send! Thank you for your generosity!

Elder Recommendations for 2027

The Elders request your help as we start looking to 2027. If you know of a man who is currently a formal partner of FCC, already "elder-ing" (shepherding, making disciples, caring for the people of FCC), and meets the qualifications of an elder found in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1, would you recommend him to the current Elders? Send your recommendation to elders@fcchurch.org or at www.fcchurch.org/elderrec. Thank you for your support and assistance in raising up leaders in our community!
