WHY DO WE GIVE AN OFFERING?

WHY DO WE SING THESE SONGS?

Scripture commands the church to sing “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” (Col. 3:16) together as one of our acts of worship. These different kinds of music reflect songs that come directly from Scripture (Psalms), as well as new songs written by the church that reflect the truth of God and the gospel as revealed in Scripture. Here we sing hymns that connect us to the generations of God’s people who have gone before us, we sing modern songs in an attempt to be faithful to God who calls us to “sing a new song,” and we sing new arrangements of classic hymns.

Any song we sing together must first pass the test of truth - is it theologically accurate and does it proclaim what is true about God? In this, we recognize that God can draw straight lines with crooked sticks. The songs we choose must also be singable in a group setting. Not every song you hear on the radio is that. But what is most important is that in singing together, we are proclaiming Christ’s excellencies as his people. Let us hear you sing!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

MISSIONS MOMENT | Art Deyo

Join us in praying for our missionaries each week. Art serves with Youth for Christ International, mentoring leaders. Here's how you can be praying for him:

  • Praise: The Lord has comforted as Art has grieved the loss of his wife and drawn him closer to Himself. Continue to pray for the daily grieving.
  • Pray that the Bible study he leads would expand with people who want to grow even in old age.
  • Pray Perry, Adel, and Richard would come to the Lord.
  • Pray for Art’s work at YFCI and that YFCI would bear fruit, expanding to new countries.
  • Pray for the upcoming General Assembly in Kenya in October. Art and his grandson will be going. Pray God would provide the finances as well.

Thank you for praying for our missionaries!

Card Shower for Charis Forcey

Our Children’s Ministry Director, Charis Forcey, has stepped down. To bless her, we want to shower her with cards of encouragement and gifts to express gratitude for her years of serving the Lord and our church body. Drop them off at the Connection Center by August 2nd.

Elder Recommendations for 2027

The Elders request your help as we start looking to 2027. If you know of a man who is currently a formal partner of FCC, already "elder-ing" (shepherding, making disciples, caring for the people of FCC), and meets the qualifications of an elder found in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1, would you recommend him to the current Elders? Send your recommendation to elders@fcchurch.org or at www.fcchurch.org/elderrec. Thank you for your support and assistance in raising up leaders in our community!

Operation Christmas Child | July & August Collection

It's School Supplies in July and August! Sales will pop up for school necessities: pencils, pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, crayons, coloring markers, paper, scissors, and more. These are necessary items for a child to attend school in some areas. Always remember: the gospel goes forth with each and every box we send! Thank you for your generosity!

Request: Service Opportunities for Boys

FCC Family - do you have some service projects around your home that boys (7-13) could help with? Or maybe you have a neighbor or know a widow who could use some help? Our Fathers in the Field ministry is looking for opportunities for Mentor Fathers and their Field Buddies to serve widows and the church community. If you have a project, please contact Maggie Fuller (fathersinthefield@fcchurch.org).

Prayer Room | Sundays, 9a-10:15a | Prayer Room

The Lord has set in motion a desire to pray on Sunday mornings during first service. The Prayer Room door is open for anyone to engage in prayer and pursue the presence of God with others.
