WHY DO WE DO THAT?
WHY DO WE TAKE COMMUNION?
Communion, “The Lord’s Supper,” is a tradition given to the church by Jesus Christ which calls us to remember his death on the cross until he returns again. It is a unique and beautiful way of preaching the gospel through symbols - the broken bread symbolizes his body, the cup symbolizes his shed blood - just as Jesus described it at the Last Supper. Reserved for believers and intended to be done regularly until Christ returns, we take Communion on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions. In doing so, we preach the gospel to ourselves and to one another. All confessing believers in Jesus are invited to participate in the Lord’s Table with us, but God’s Word cautions us against taking Communion lightly. We are told to examine ourselves before we eat the bread and drink the cup - then we can celebrate our salvation in Christ with joy!
Passages to read:
Matthew 26:26-29, Luke 22:16-20, 1 Corinthians 11:17-34

Support Alternatives Pregnancy Center | Through February 16th
At FCC, we believe humans are created in God's image and therefore every stage of human life is precious and valuable. To remember Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, we are partnering with Alternatives Pregnancy Center to help Denver-area women experiencing unintended or challenging pregnancies. Pick up an Alternatives Baby Bottle Bank from teh lobby beginning January 22; fill it with spare change, cash, or checks; and pray as a family for the teens, women, men, and pre-bornn children served daily at Alternatives. Then, return the bank to FCC by February 16th. For more informationm, call or text Kellee at 303.522.8154. You can also donate by clicking this link.
