Co-Heirs with Him

Dear brothers and sisters in the one, true faith,

Ephesians 1:18-19 NIV
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

It seems a little strange for Paul to say that our hearts have eyes! But the truth is that we are totally dependent on the Spirit of God to teach us. See 1 Corinthains 2:6-16.

Paul wants them to know the hope, the inheritance, and the power we have in Christ.

First, this hope is living and will never end. We will be carried into heaven one day with HOPE! It is certain and is built on the truth that our Savior rose from the dead on the third day just as He said he would.

Second, Paul was reminding them of the inheritance we have in Christ. This inheritance to us is guaranteed by Jesus. We are co-heirs with Him. It is free for us because it cost Jesus His life! Therefore, this inheritance is glorious. It is full of the impeccable character of God. It is for His holy people. People made holy by trusting in Him! 

I challenge us to talk to others about the hope we have in Jesus! See 1 Peter 3:13-16. And remind your fellow faith walkers that we are not home yet. Our eternal inheritance will be revealed in the next life.
