We are memorizing a most magnificent prayer this month! So far we have observed the praying in Ephesians 3:14-17a, which celebrates our unity in this forever family and our security in the One who indwells each of us!
Today we will see the love that God has given to us!
Ephesians 3:17b-19 NIV
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge– that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
God’s love is infinite! We will enjoy His love forever. We will sing with joy because His love is everlasting. For these reasons, we are confident that we are rooted and established in the love of God. Paul uses metaphors from agriculture and architecture! Once this foundation has been laid, we can explore God’s love together. Surely, Paul is correct in saying that God’s love, which we experience, is real! It also surpasses our ability to know it completely. We know God’s love in Jesus Christ in every dimension!
Paul’s celebration culminates in the statement: “that you may be filled with the measure of the fullness of God!” Take a moment to meditate on this; this may be the most glorious affirmation in the Word of God! Surely, this is our destiny. Surely, this gives us faith to persevere here on earth!
