This November 2025, we are memorizing another prayer of Paul from Ephesians 3:14-21. This will be a powerful group of verses to memorize to inspire us to pray with greater faith in our God who is the Able One!

Ephesians 3:14-15 NIV
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.

In Ephesians 3:7-13, Paul was celebrating the wonderous gift of salvation made available to all people. In verse 12, he pinpoints a great blessing for every believer. We can come to God in prayer for anything at any time! We come with freedom and confidence. This explains his words “for this reason” in verse 14.

This introduction to Paul’s prayer set the stage for his following requests. He identifies who he is addressing in his prayer. The Father of the whole church family. God is our Father by creation and by salvation. He rules over all creation, including humans and angels. What a great reminder for us! We often rush into God’s throne room to prayer without rejoicing in WHO we are addressing.  

Paul identifies his posture for prayer. He prays on his knees, bowing down in worship! We can pray in any posture, but kneeling does keep us humble before our Father in heaven. And, remember, one day every knee will bow!

Philippians 2:10-11 NIV
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Let’s take this challenge today to pray on our knees and let’s praise our Father in heaven as we pray! As we do this, remember the great unity we have with everyone in God’s forever family!
