I have a question for you. What is filling your soul today? As a Church we are walking through Jesus’ teaching in John 13-16 and examining the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus on earth. From scripture, we know that our Lord Jeus was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 4:1 NIV
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
Jesus followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and was subsequently tested by the Devil. Too often we think the Spirit only leads us into blessed experiences. Yet, we see our Savior facing the Devil after He was led by the Holy Spirit. Praise God that our Lord defeated the Devil’s tests by quoting the Word of God!
John 3:34 NIV
For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.
Without limit. There are no limits of truth in the words of Jesus because He was filled with the Spirit. Paul exhorts us to be filled by the Holy Spirit; an ongoing command. We ought to ask for the filling of the Spirit often, daily, frequently, without ceasing. The goal is to follow God by the work of His Spirit in us!
Ephesians 5:18 NIV
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit
Ask God to be filled with the Holy Spirit today! As you are filled, pray for the lost to believe and share the hope of Jesus with a friend, neighbor, or co-worker. Let us partner in the overflow!
Be encouraged,
Pastor Rick
