Dear Friends,

“He does the most for God who is the highest skilled in prayer.”  E.M. Bounds

Paul has prayed for the Ephesians to know God better, to embrace their hope and their inheritance in Christ. Now he seeks God to reveal His power to them!

Ephesians 1:19-21 NIV
and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Paul calls this resurrection power “incomparable!”  This is God’s unique power!  The King James translation says it is “exceedingly great!” Paul expands his definition with four synonymous words.

  1. Power – This noun appears 119 times in the New Testament. We get our word “dynamite” from it. However, God’s power does not explode things but unifies them.
  2. Might – This noun appears only 12 times in the New Testament. It defines the capability of God’s power and is often defined by His Sovereign rule.
  3. Strength – This noun is only found 10 times in the New Testament and illustrates the muscular strength of a person. It defines the force that one can exert. God is omnipotent and His strength has no limits!
  4. Works In – This verb pictures the effect of God’s power. We get our English word “energy” from this Greek word. It impacts us! It was exerted by God the Father in raising His Son, our Savior, from the dead and it is available and active in our lives today.

Please note the fullness of the display of God’s power in Paul’s prayer. He celebrates Jesus’ resurrection, ascension into heaven, and sovereign rule over all. His rule will last for all time. He reigns now and forever more!

As you reflect on this prayer, ask God to reveal His power to you. Spend time in prayer that as we partner with Jesus and partner as the church, that He will impact the lives of our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and community. Let’s actively ask God to save souls this year! And, to celebrate, we are planning a baptism service for Summer 2026 at Cherry Creek State Park. As we pray specifically, we will see the Hand of the Lord guiding and rescuing the lost in powerful ways!

Your servant for Jesus’ sake,

Pastor Rick
