Two Gifts

EncourageOGram

Dear Friends,

As we close our memory verses for this month let me celebrate with you. We are hiding God’s word in our hearts and God is pleased with us!

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NIV
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Paul mentions two gifts: encouragement and hope. God gives these by His free grace; we cannot earn them or buy them. They are free and exceedingly valuable!

God has, in Christ, given us eternal encouragement. This comfort is endless. He is the One who comforts us like a compassionate Father. (See 2 Corinthians 1:3-4) What blessing we have in the encouragement of our Savior!

God also gives us good hope! This hope is certain and alive, just like our resurrected Savior! (See 1 Peter 1:3-4). Where is your hope today? Reflect on the goodness of the Lord and give Him thanks.

This verse is a pinnacle of this passage! It is a simple prayer for encouragement and strength. God is able and willing to give us both. These gifts equip us to serve Him in our works and our words.

As we close this year, 2025, be encouraged by the God of all encouragement. He is with us and will remain with us each and every day of 2026! As we enter this new year, continue praying that God will save souls. Our friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. In faith, let’s keep asking that we will celebrate God’s faithfulness at our July baptism service! We believe God wants to do above what we can ask or imagine this year.

Be encouraged to pray today for a move of God in our community!

Pastor Rick
