Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This month of February, we will be memorizing Psalm 2. It is a fitting compliment to Psalm 1. Both songs, which open this book of worship, call us to trust in the Lord. Psalm 1 pronounces blessings on all who trust in the Lord. Trusting in the Lord reveals true prosperity. Psalm 2 ends with a call to take refuge in the Lord. When we seek God’s love and protection, we are trusting in His power and care for us. He does not just protect us but He, Himself, is our refuge!
As you read Psalm 2, you will discover that the writer (most likely David) sees God as the ruler over all nations on earth. This truth is then quoted in Acts, Hebrews, and Revelation.
Our simple outline for Psalm 2 is…
Often the human response to God is rebellion. Psalm 2:1-3
God, the Father, rebukes these rebels. Psalm 2:4-6
God, the Son, reigns over the whole earth. Psalm 2:7-9
All on earth are called to repent and worship. Psalm 2:10-12
I join you in memorizing this short psalm. Keep an eye out, we will share more thoughts from this song throughout this month.
Be encouraged,
Pastor Rick
