Dear friends,
As we have been investigating Psalm 23:3, we have been challenged to reflect godly attitudes we have found in Philip Keller’s book “A Shepherd Looks at the Twenty-third Psalm.” Each of these attitudes requires the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit in us. They do not come naturally, but supernaturally!
6) “Instead of exercising and asserting my will, I learn to cooperate with His wishes and comply with His will.”
Every one of these attitudes requires a decision of my will. I am often tempted to only focus on what I want regardless of its impact on others. I am convinced that I deserve the very best that I can acquire.
Keller explains, “When a man or woman allows his will to be crossed out, cancelling the great ‘I’ in their decisions, then indeed the Cross has been applied to that life.” Read that statement again slowly. I have a very active will and so do you. We can choose to make His will our priority as Jesus did in His prayer, “Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Mark 14:36. We may also reflect on the attitude of John when he said, “He (Jesus) must increase, and I must decrease.” John 3:30.
May God inspire us today to follow Him.
