Give Him Praise

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we reflect once again on Psalm 46. In this song, we find many names for God. Each one highlights a different aspect of who He is!

Psalm 46:4 NIV
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.

According to the prophets, God lives in the temple in Jerusalem. However, it is reassuring to know that no building can contain Him. He is omnipresent! This verse reminds us of this fact. Here God is called the “Most High.” When our children are young, they believe the tallest or biggest is the strongest. Twenty-two times in the Psalms God is called the “Most High.” There is no god more powerful or more prestigious!

Psalm 7:17 NIV
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness;
I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High.

Psalm 57:1 NIV
Of David. A miktam.
When he had fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. 2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me.

As you meditate on God as the Most High, call on Him and give Him praise!

Be encouraged,

Pastor Rick John
