LOVE: Top of the List

EncourageOGram

Dear Friends,

Today we conclude our brief look at the fruit of love. There is a reason it is at the top of the list. Love is commanded and love should be the goal of a life that follows Jesus.

Love calls us to sacrifice on behalf of others. Jesus said it in John 15:13.

John 15:13 NIV
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

We can lay down our lives daily as His living sacrifices. We can choose to put others first by dying to our own tastes and desires. How many of us came to faith in Jesus because someone was laying down their lives for us?

This week we have two opportunities to lay down our lives for others. You can choose to come to our Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 30 at church. It will be an outreach to everyone. Also, you may be planning to be a Light in the Night in your neighborhood. On Saturday, October 31, many of us will be setting up to serve our neighbors with food, candy, and open hearts to share the gospel. Prayerfully consider one or both of these opportunities.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 NIV
Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Thank you for being a group of people who love others well!

Be encouraged,

Pastor Rick
