WHY DO WE SING THESE SONGS?
Scripture commands the church to sing “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” (Col. 3:16) together as one of our acts of worship. These different kinds of music reflect songs that come directly from Scripture (Psalms), as well as new songs written by the church that reflect the truth of God and the gospel as revealed in Scripture. Here we sing hymns that connect us to the generations of God’s people who have gone before us, we sing modern songs in an attempt to be faithful to God who calls us to “sing a new song,” and we sing new arrangements of classic hymns.
Any song we sing together must first pass the test of truth - is it theologically accurate and does it proclaim what is true about God? In this, we recognize that God can draw straight lines with crooked sticks. The songs we choose must also be singable in a group setting. Not every song you hear on the radio is that. But what is most important is that in singing together, we are proclaiming Christ’s excellencies as his people. Let us hear you sing!

MISSIONS MOMENT | Art & Lois Deyo
Please join us in praying for our FCC missionaries. These next two weeks we want to lift up Art & Lois Deyo with Youth for Christ International:
- As Ambassadors-at-Large for Youth for Christ International, pray for our contacts as we tell the YFC story.
- Pray for National YFC Programs and Missionaries we support and advise, for YFC Juvenile Justice Ministry (JJM), and for Marked Men for Christ.
- Pray for Central Asia YFC Director, Semyon, who moved his family from Kyrgystan to South Korea to escape Russia drafting him and his two sons to fight in the war against Ukraine.
- Pray for YFC staff & new converts incarcerated in Libya for over 20 months.
- Pray for the Bible study we lead at MacKenzie Place (Senior Living Community) and pray for salvation for the unbelievers who attend our Bible study. Pray for us as we encourage the many people at MacKenzie who are hurting spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
- Pray for Lois’s GI issues and as of last week her 3rd nerve palsy (double vision), for Art’s lymphoma and prostate cancer to stay in remission and his hip and knee pain, for son, Jeff, as he seeks a lead pastor position, and for daughter, Deanna, as she heals from ACL knee surgery.
- Pray for additional financial support.
Thank you for remembering our missionaries and one another in prayer this week.
